Description

Tender sea scallops seared in a rich buttery garlic sauce, finished with lemon for a quick and elegant seafood dish.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb sea scallops, patted dry
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
  • Lemon wedges for serving (optional)

Instructions

  1. Pat scallops dry with paper towels and season with salt and black pepper.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  3. Add scallops in a single layer and sear for 2–3 minutes per side until golden brown; remove and set aside.
  4. Reduce heat to medium and add butter to the skillet.
  5. Once melted, add garlic and sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  6. Stir in lemon juice.
  7. Return scallops to the pan and spoon the garlic butter sauce over them.
  8. Cook for an additional 1 minute, then remove from heat.
  9. Garnish with chopped parsley and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Do not overcrowd the pan to ensure proper searing.
  • Overcooking scallops will make them rubbery.
  • Serve with pasta, rice, or steamed vegetables.
