Description
A decadent chocolate lava cake with a rich, molten chocolate center and tender cake exterior, perfect for an indulgent dessert.
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 4 oz semi-sweet chocolate, chopped
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 2 large egg yolks
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- Pinch of salt
- Butter and cocoa powder for greasing ramekins
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C) and grease four ramekins with butter; dust with cocoa powder.
- Melt butter and chocolate together in a heatproof bowl until smooth.
- Whisk powdered sugar into the chocolate mixture.
- Add eggs, egg yolks, and vanilla extract; whisk until combined.
- Fold in flour and salt just until incorporated.
- Divide batter evenly among prepared ramekins.
- Bake for 12–14 minutes, until edges are set but centers remain soft.
- Let rest for 1 minute, then invert onto plates.
- Serve immediately.
Notes
- Do not overbake or the center will not be molten.
- Serve with vanilla ice cream or fresh berries.
- Ramekins can be prepared in advance and baked when ready.
