Description

Hearty and comforting hamburger rice casserole made with seasoned ground beef, tender rice, and a creamy, cheesy sauce baked until bubbly and golden.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb (450 g) ground beef
  • 1 cup uncooked long-grain white rice
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 1/2 cups beef broth
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  3. Add diced onion and cook until softened, about 3–4 minutes.
  4. Add ground beef and garlic, cooking until beef is browned. Drain excess fat.
  5. Stir in salt, pepper, and paprika.
  6. In a large bowl, combine uncooked rice, cream of mushroom soup, beef broth, and milk.
  7. Add cooked beef mixture and half of the shredded cheese. Mix well.
  8. Transfer mixture to a greased 9×13-inch baking dish and spread evenly.
  9. Cover tightly with foil and bake for 45–50 minutes until rice is tender.
  10. Remove foil, sprinkle remaining cheese on top, and bake uncovered for 10 minutes until melted and bubbly.
  11. Let rest for 5–10 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • Ensure the dish is tightly covered so the rice cooks properly.
  • Swap cream of mushroom for cream of chicken if preferred.
  • Add frozen peas or mixed vegetables for extra nutrition.
