Crispy Cabbage Burger Bake is a hearty low-carb casserole featuring seasoned ground beef layered with tender cabbage and topped with melted cheese for a comforting, oven-baked meal.
Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 4 cups green cabbage, shredded
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×9-inch baking dish.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add onion and cook until softened, about 3–4 minutes.
- Add ground beef, garlic, salt, pepper, paprika, and oregano. Cook until beef is browned and fully cooked. Drain excess fat if needed.
- Stir in shredded cabbage and cook for 3–4 minutes until slightly softened.
- Transfer the beef and cabbage mixture to the prepared baking dish and spread evenly.
- In a small bowl, mix mayonnaise and Dijon mustard, then spread lightly over the top.
- Sprinkle cheddar and mozzarella cheese evenly over the casserole.
- Bake for 20–25 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Broil for 2–3 minutes at the end for a crispy golden top.
- Let rest for 5 minutes before serving.
Notes
- For extra crunch, add crushed pork rinds on top before baking.
- Swap cheddar for pepper jack for a spicy version.
- Leftovers store well in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
