Description

Flaky, buttery cheese danishes made with golden puff pastry and filled with a sweet, creamy cheese filling, then baked until crisp and lightly glazed for a perfect bakery-style treat.


Ingredients

  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)
  • 1 tbsp water
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 12 tbsp milk (for glaze)


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Roll out puff pastry and cut into squares.
  3. In a bowl, mix cream cheese, sugar, vanilla, egg yolk, and lemon juice until smooth.
  4. Spoon a small amount of filling into the center of each pastry square.
  5. Fold corners slightly toward the center or shape as desired.
  6. Whisk egg with water and brush over pastry edges.
  7. Bake for 15–18 minutes until golden and puffed.
  8. Mix powdered sugar with milk to create a glaze.
  9. Drizzle glaze over slightly cooled danishes and serve.
