Ingredients
- 2 steak cuts (ribeye or sirloin, about 2.5 cm thick)
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 3 tbsp butter
- 4 cloves garlic, smashed or minced
- 2 sprigs fresh thyme or rosemary
- Salt to taste
- Black pepper to taste
Instructions
- Bring steak to room temperature for 20-30 minutes before cooking.
- Pat steak dry and season generously with salt and black pepper.
- Heat a heavy skillet over high heat until very hot.
- Add olive oil and place steak in the pan.
- Sear for 2-3 minutes on one side until a golden crust forms.
- Flip the steak and add butter, garlic, and herbs.
- Spoon melted garlic butter over the steak continuously for another 2-3 minutes.
- Cook to your preferred doneness.
- Remove steak and let it rest for 5 minutes.
- Slice and serve with the garlic butter from the pan.
