Description
Gordon Ramsay’s classic tiramisu is a luxurious Italian dessert made with espresso-soaked ladyfingers, rich mascarpone cream, and a dusting of cocoa.
Ingredients
- 4 large egg yolks
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup mascarpone cheese
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 1/2 cups strong espresso, cooled
- 2 tablespoons Marsala wine or dark rum
- 24 ladyfinger biscuits (savoiardi)
- 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt
Instructions
- Whisk egg yolks and sugar together in a heatproof bowl until pale.
- Place the bowl over a pot of gently simmering water and whisk continuously for 5–7 minutes until thickened.
- Remove from heat and allow to cool slightly.
- Fold mascarpone cheese and vanilla extract into the egg mixture until smooth.
- In a separate bowl, whip heavy cream with a pinch of salt until soft peaks form.
- Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture.
- Mix espresso with Marsala wine or rum in a shallow dish.
- Dip ladyfingers briefly into the coffee mixture and layer them in a serving dish.
- Spread half of the mascarpone cream over the ladyfingers.
- Repeat with another layer of soaked ladyfingers and remaining cream.
- Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight.
- Dust generously with cocoa powder before serving.
Notes
- Do not oversoak the ladyfingers to avoid a soggy texture.
- Chilling overnight enhances flavor and texture.
- Use high-quality mascarpone for best results.
