Description

A savory baked spinach dish topped with a crispy Parmesan crust, combining tender spinach with garlic, butter, and golden cheese for an easy and flavorful side dish.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb fresh spinach (or 10 oz frozen spinach, thawed and drained)
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Cooking spray or extra butter for greasing

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a baking dish.
  2. If using fresh spinach, sauté it in a pan over medium heat until wilted, then drain excess liquid. If using frozen spinach, ensure it is fully thawed and squeezed dry.
  3. Spread the spinach evenly in the prepared baking dish.
  4. In a small bowl, mix the Parmesan cheese, breadcrumbs, melted butter, garlic, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes.
  5. Sprinkle the Parmesan mixture evenly over the spinach.
  6. Bake for 18–22 minutes until the topping is golden and crispy.
  7. Serve hot as a side dish.

Notes

  • For extra richness, add a tablespoon of cream or cream cheese to the spinach.
  • Can be made ahead and baked just before serving.
