Description
Spicy Jalapeño Cheddar Tuna Melt is a bold and comforting sandwich made with creamy tuna salad, fresh jalapeños, sharp cheddar cheese, and toasted bread grilled to golden perfection.
Ingredients
- 2 (5 oz) cans tuna, drained
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 jalapeño, finely diced (seeds removed for less heat)
- 2 tablespoons red onion, finely chopped
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 4 slices sharp cheddar cheese
- 4 slices sourdough or sandwich bread
- 2 tablespoons butter, softened
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine tuna, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, lemon juice, jalapeño, red onion, salt, and pepper. Mix until well blended.
- Butter one side of each slice of bread.
- Place two slices of bread butter-side down in a skillet over medium heat.
- Top each with a slice of cheddar cheese, then evenly divide the tuna mixture over the cheese.
- Add another slice of cheddar on top of the tuna mixture, then cover with remaining bread slices butter-side up.
- Cook for 3–4 minutes per side, pressing gently, until bread is golden brown and cheese is melted.
- Remove from heat, slice, and serve immediately.
Notes
- Adjust jalapeño amount based on desired spice level.
- Add sliced tomatoes or avocado for extra flavor.
- Use a lid while cooking to help melt the cheese faster.
- Serve with pickles or chips for a complete meal.
