Description

Spicy Jalapeño Cheddar Tuna Melt is a bold and comforting sandwich made with creamy tuna salad, fresh jalapeños, sharp cheddar cheese, and toasted bread grilled to golden perfection.

Ingredients

  • 2 (5 oz) cans tuna, drained
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 jalapeño, finely diced (seeds removed for less heat)
  • 2 tablespoons red onion, finely chopped
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 slices sharp cheddar cheese
  • 4 slices sourdough or sandwich bread
  • 2 tablespoons butter, softened

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine tuna, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, lemon juice, jalapeño, red onion, salt, and pepper. Mix until well blended.
  2. Butter one side of each slice of bread.
  3. Place two slices of bread butter-side down in a skillet over medium heat.
  4. Top each with a slice of cheddar cheese, then evenly divide the tuna mixture over the cheese.
  5. Add another slice of cheddar on top of the tuna mixture, then cover with remaining bread slices butter-side up.
  6. Cook for 3–4 minutes per side, pressing gently, until bread is golden brown and cheese is melted.
  7. Remove from heat, slice, and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Adjust jalapeño amount based on desired spice level.
  • Add sliced tomatoes or avocado for extra flavor.
  • Use a lid while cooking to help melt the cheese faster.
  • Serve with pickles or chips for a complete meal.
