  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/2 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 packet taco seasoning (or 1 tablespoon homemade blend)
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar or Mexican blend cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded lettuce
  • 1/2 cup diced tomatoes
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon lime juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

  1. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat and sauté chopped onion until soft.
  2. Add garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
  3. Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks. Drain excess fat.
  4. Stir in taco seasoning and water, then simmer for 5 minutes until thickened.
  5. Warm taco shells or tortillas according to package instructions.
  6. In a small bowl, mix sour cream, mayonnaise, lime juice, garlic powder, salt, and pepper to create the creamy drizzle.
  7. Assemble tacos by filling shells with beef, then topping with shredded cheese, lettuce, and tomatoes.
  8. Drizzle the creamy sauce over the tacos.
  9. Garnish with fresh cilantro if desired and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Use ground chicken or turkey as a lighter alternative.
  • Add jalapeños or hot sauce for extra heat.
  • Warm tortillas enhance flavor and texture.
  • Use Greek yogurt instead of sour cream for a healthier option.
  • Serve with rice, beans, or chips on the side.
