Chocolate Fudge Cake is a rich, moist, and intensely chocolatey dessert with a soft crumb and decadent fudge frosting, perfect for celebrations or indulgent treats.
Ingredients
- 1 and 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 1 and 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1 and 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup hot coffee or hot water
- 1 cup unsalted butter (for frosting)
- 3/4 cup cocoa powder (for frosting)
- 3 cups powdered sugar (for frosting)
- 1/2 cup milk (for frosting)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract (for frosting)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 175°C (350°F) and grease two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a large bowl, sift together flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Add eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla extract. Beat until smooth.
- Stir in hot coffee or water until the batter is thin.
- Divide batter evenly between prepared pans.
- Bake for 30–35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Let cakes cool completely before frosting.
- For frosting, beat butter until creamy, then add cocoa powder and mix well.
- Add powdered sugar gradually, alternating with milk, until smooth and spreadable.
- Stir in vanilla extract.
- Spread frosting between layers and over the top and sides of the cake.
- Slice and serve.
Notes
- Hot coffee enhances the chocolate flavor but can be replaced with hot water.
- Do not overbake to keep the cake moist.
- Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
- Add chocolate chips for extra richness.
