Cinnamon Sugar Donut Bread Loaf is a soft, buttery quick bread with the flavor of a classic cake donut, finished with a sweet cinnamon-sugar coating for a bakery-style treat.
Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted (for topping)
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar (for coating)
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon (for coating)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon.
- In a separate large bowl, cream softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
- Mix in vanilla extract.
- Add the dry ingredients alternately with milk, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients.
- Pour batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
- Bake for 45-55 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow the loaf to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
- Brush the warm loaf with melted butter.
- Mix the remaining sugar and cinnamon together and generously coat the loaf on all sides.
- Let cool slightly before slicing and serving.
Notes
- Coat the loaf while still warm so the cinnamon sugar adheres well.
- Do not overmix the batter to keep the loaf tender.
- Add a pinch of nutmeg for a more traditional donut flavor.
- Serve with coffee or tea for breakfast or dessert.
- Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
