Ingredients
- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 1 1/2 cups brown sugar
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 3 eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup cocoa powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup chocolate chips
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 cup chocolate chunks or chips (for cookies)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 175°C (350°F) and grease or line a baking pan.
- Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat until browned and nutty in aroma. Let cool slightly.
- In a bowl, whisk brown sugar, granulated sugar, and browned butter.
- Add eggs and vanilla extract, whisking until smooth.
- Divide the batter mixture in half if making separate brownie and cookie layers.
- For brownies: mix in cocoa powder, half the flour, and salt. Fold in chocolate chips.
- For cookies: mix remaining flour, baking soda, and chocolate chunks into the other half.
- Spread brownie batter into the pan first.
- Dollop cookie dough over the brownie layer.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes until edges are set but center remains fudgy.
- Cool before slicing and serving.
