Description
A classic homemade authentic Italian tiramisu made with layers of coffee-soaked ladyfingers, rich mascarpone cream, and a dusting of cocoa—elegant, creamy, and timeless.
Ingredients
- 250g mascarpone cheese
- 3 large eggs (separated)
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup strong brewed espresso, cooled
- 2 tablespoons coffee liqueur (optional)
- 200g ladyfinger biscuits (savoiardi)
- 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt
Instructions
- In a bowl, whisk egg yolks with sugar until pale and creamy.
- Add mascarpone and vanilla extract, mixing until smooth.
- In another bowl, beat egg whites with a pinch of salt until stiff peaks form.
- Gently fold egg whites into the mascarpone mixture.
- Combine espresso and coffee liqueur in a shallow dish.
- Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the coffee mixture.
- Arrange a layer of soaked ladyfingers in a dish.
- Spread half of the mascarpone cream over the layer.
- Repeat with another layer of dipped ladyfingers and remaining cream.
- Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours (preferably overnight).
- Dust with cocoa powder before serving.

- Use high-quality mascarpone for best results.
- Do not soak ladyfingers too long to avoid sogginess.
- Chill overnight for the best texture and flavor.
- Use pasteurized eggs if concerned about raw eggs.
