Description

A warm and gooey dessert featuring rich chocolate cake baked over sweet, juicy cherries, creating a luscious cobbler with a molten-like texture.

Ingredients

  • 1 can (21 oz) cherry pie filling
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/3 cup melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips
  • 1 cup hot water

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a baking dish.
  2. Spread cherry pie filling evenly in the bottom of the dish.
  3. In a bowl, mix flour, cocoa powder, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  4. Add milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract, stirring until just combined.
  5. Spoon batter evenly over the cherries without mixing.
  6. Sprinkle brown sugar and chocolate chips over the top.
  7. Pour hot water gently over the entire dish (do not stir).
  8. Bake for 40–45 minutes until the top is set and the bottom is gooey.
  9. Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • Do not stir after adding hot water; it creates the cobbler texture.
  • Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
  • Fresh or frozen cherries can be used instead of canned.
  • Adjust sweetness based on preference.
  • Best enjoyed fresh but can be reheated.
